Challenges
Committing to reducing energy usage by 1.5% across all CHS locations is a resource-intensive undertaking. CHS Knoxville’s low LED conversion rate was creating a lot of facility-wide inefficiencies – which left opportunity costs on the table for clean energy technology to solve.
Solutions
Controlling rising energy costs and CHS Knoxville’s utility budget were the top priority, and state-of-the-art lighting upgrades are what reduced its energy costs and consumption by 59%. This project wrapped up in January of 2023 which immediately freed up resources to provide the best care for its patients now, and in the future.
Benefits
- Improve ESG rating. Immediately mitigate ESG-related risk and increase transparency to investors.
- Exceed sustainability initiatives. Annual goal to reduce energy usage by 1.5% was met and exceeded with LED lighting upgrade.
- Reinvest in stakeholders. By reducing costly utility bills, CHS was able to invest in even better care for its patients, employees, and local community.
